Sly Stone, Frontman Of Sly & The Family Stone, Passes Away At 82
Sly Stone, the frontman of Sly and the Family Stone, has passed away at 82.
His family shared:
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved dad, Sly Stone. After a prolonged battle with COPD and other underlying health issues, Sly passed away peacefully, surrounded by his three children, his closest friend, and his extended family.”

Sly was a pioneer who blended funk, soul, rock, and psychedelia. Known for hits like “Dance to the Music,” “Everyday People,” and “Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin),” his group broke barriers with its multiracial, mixed-gender lineup and delivered unforgettable performances at festivals like Woodstock and the Harlem Cultural Festival.
Before his passing, Sly completed the screenplay for his life story, which his family says they look forward to sharing soon.
