Gospel Singer Michael Tait Admits To C*caine Use & ‘Unwanted Sensual’ Touching Of Men: ‘I Was Living 2 Distinctly Different Lives’
Michael Tait, former frontman of gospel band Newsboys and member of DC Talk, has publicly admitted to years of “reckless and destructive behavior,” including cocaine use, excessive drinking, and “unwanted sensual” contact with men. In a heartfelt Instagram post, the 59-year-old wrote, “I am ashamed of my life choices and actions… I will simply call it what God calls it — sin.”
Tait’s confession follows a “Roys Report” investigation, which included allegations from three men who accused him of s*xual ass*ult dating back to 2004. While disputing some details, Tait said he doesn’t challenge “the substance” of the claims. He revealed he entered a Utah rehab center in January and has been clean since.
“I was living two distinctly different lives,” he admitted, calling his actions a betrayal of the faith he preached. Following the revelations, Christian radio networks like K-LOVE have pulled his music, and Newsboys expressed feeling “deceived” and “heartbroken” over his years of denial.
