Luigi Mangione Pens Letter From Jail, Expressing Gratitude While Awaiting Trial For Allegedly K*lling UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson + Thanks Fans & ‘Latinas For Mangione’
Despite facing a first-degree m*rder charge in the d*ath of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, Luigi Mangione is reflecting on life’s blessings.
From behind bars at MDC Brooklyn, the 27-year-old penned a list of 27 things he’s grateful for after celebrating his birthday. The letter, confirmed by TMZ, highlights everything from his “friends, family, legal team, cellmate and legions of fans,” to the $1 million raised for his defense.
He even appreciates donations that help him make “big purchases” at the commissary. Mangione also gave love to the corrections officers and staff, revealing, “On Thursdays I eat chicken with Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce,” adding, “Sorry … it’s the realest food here, and I need my strength,” to his vegan supporters. He name-dropped the books he’s reading, music he enjoys, and gave a playful shoutout to “Latinas For Mangione.”
Mangione has pleaded not guilty. His next court date is June 26, with trial expected in 2026.
