Rep. Jasmine Crockett Says She Doesn’t Feel Safe Amid Rise In Political Violence: ‘We Have Nothing’
Jasmine Crockett is speaking out about the safety risks lawmakers are facing in today’s political climate.
Appearing on The View, the Texas congresswoman was asked whether she feels safe in light of the recent deadly shootings of two Minnesota lawmakers and their spouses. She responded:
“No, not at all. I do this job and the fact that my safety is a part of doing this job is really bad in and of itself.”
She criticized how resources are allocated, pointing out:
“While we spend millions upon millions just so [Donald Trump] can go and golf or while they spent $45 million for his little birthday parade… can we reprioritize some of those dollars?”

Crockett explained that only members in House leadership roles receive protection, saying:
“Can we get something? Because we have nothing… When you figure out security, you have to hopefully raise enough money to then be able to pay for security yourself. This is a problem, especially in light of the environment.”
The comments come after former Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband were shot and killed last weekend (June 14). Sen. John Hoffman and his wife were also critically wounded. The suspected gunman, Vance Boelter, has since been taken into custody and is facing multiple charges.
