Kathy Griffin Reveals She Passed On $1.4 Million Offer To Join ‘The View’ & Barbara Walters ‘Did Not Like That One Bit’
Kathy Griffin says she passed on a multimillion-dollar offer to co-host The View, and apparently, the late Barbara Walters wasn’t pleased.
In a new YouTube video, the comedian reveals she was offered $1.4 million to take a permanent seat at the table after guest-hosting the show about 27 times in the mid-2000s. At the time, Kathy says she was already making around $10 million a year from her show My Life on the D-List and touring, so she declined. She adds that she would’ve also had to uproot her life, as she was caring for her parents.

Kathy says she pulled Barbara aside to explain the decision, even offering to show her tax returns. However, she claims Barbara “did not like that one bit,” and notes that ABC didn’t raise their offer or try to negotiate.
Rosie O’Donnell ended up landing the gig in 2006.
