Timbaland Apologizes To Producer For Using Their Record In An AI Tool Without Permission: ‘That’s On Me’
Timbaland has been criticized for using AI in music, and now, he is issuing an apology to one producer.
Days ago, news surfaced that producer K Fresh was made aware that Timbaland used their record to test out Suno, an AI music system.
On Friday, Timbaland shared an apology to K Fresh. He claims he was unaware that K Fresh created the song and only used it to demonstrate Suno’s capabilities.
“I’d like to formally apologize to KFresh. I should have done my due diligence before using it. Regardless of the intent, I recognize that not everyone involved was aware or onboard, and I take full responsibility for that oversight. If you know me, you know l’ve spent years collaborating with artists across all levels. My goal has always been to empower creatives, not to take from them,” he wrote in part.
