Dad Jumps Overboard To Save Daughter Who Fell Off Disney Cruise Ship

The love a parent has for their child is truly unmatched.

A man is making headlines for jumping into the ocean to save his daughter, who fell overboard from a Disney cruise ship. The scary incident took place on Sunday (June 29) aboard the Disney Dream as it sailed from the Bahamas back to Fort Lauderdale. Reports indicate that, despite safety measures in place to prevent such an accident, the girl fell from the ship’s fourth deck. Witnesses said the father didn’t hesitate and immediately jumped in after his child.

Crew members quickly launched a rescue boat and, thankfully, were able to save the father-daughter duo. One passenger shared,

“The ship was moving quickly, so quickly, it’s crazy how quickly the people became tiny dots in the sea, and then you lost sight of them. The captain slowed the ship and turned it around, and then they deployed a tender ship with people on it to go get them, and we saw them rescue the dad and daughter.”

Disney Cruise has since issued a statement on the incident:

“We commend our Crew Members for their exceptional skills and prompt actions, which ensured the safe return of both guests to the ship within minutes. We are committed to the safety and well-being of our guests, and this incident highlights the effectiveness of our safety protocols.”

At this time, it’s unclear how the child was able to get past the plexiglass safety barriers.
