Quinton Brunson Says She’s Ready To Step Away From ‘Abbott Elementary’ Role + Hints At New Productions
As “Abbott Elementary” heads into its fifth season, Quinta Brunson is eyeing new creative territory. The series creator, showrunner, and star recently shared her thoughts with Bustle, saying, “I’m looking forward to moving away from that a little bit”—referring to her role as beloved second-grade teacher Janine Teagues.
“We are so fortunate and blessed to be on a network TV show for five seasons,” Brunson said, noting the show’s demanding seven-month shoot schedule limits other opportunities for the cast. “I have cast members who would love to pursue other projects.”
While the Emmy-winning series continues to thrive, Brunson is eager to act in new roles. “I’m receiving scripts, and waiting for that moment that feels like, ‘Oh man, this is exactly what I’ve been looking for,’” she said.
“Abbott has been so successful, and I want to use that success to get other people’s projects off the ground,” she added.
What do you think about Quinta’s career revelation?
