Ex-NYPD Commissioner Sues Mayor Eric Adams, Alleges Police Department Operated Like A ‘Criminal Enterprise’
A former interim NYPD commissioner is accusing Eric Adams of corruption.
Thomas Donlon, who briefly served under Adams, recently filed a civil racketeering lawsuit accusing the mayor and other top NYPD officials of operating the department as a “criminal enterprise.” In the suit, Donlon alleges officials forged documents, obstructed investigations, and handed out promotions and perks to loyalists, all while punishing whistleblowers and critics.

According to the lawsuit, their alleged misconduct led to a “massive, unlawful transfer of public wealth” through unearned salary increases, overtime, and pension boosts.
“This lawsuit is not a personal grievance,” Donlon says in a statement. “It is a statement against a corrupt system that betrays the public, silences truth, and punishes integrity.”
His lawsuit follows a similar one filed last week by four other former NYPD officials accusing the Adams administration of bribery and widespread misconduct.
