‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ Child Actor Floyd Roger Myers Jr. Has Died at 42
Floyd Roger Myers Jr., the former child actor who portrayed young Will Smith in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, has died at the age of 42.
According to his mother, Renee Trice, Myers passed away unexpectedly at his home in Maryland after suffering a heart attack. She said she had spoken to him just hours before his death and had no reason to think anything was wrong.
“He sounded fine,” Trice told reporters. “I had no idea that would be our last conversation.”
Myers’ breakout role came in a 1992 flashback episode of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, where he played a young version of the character made famous by Will Smith. He later portrayed Marlon Jackson in the hit ABC miniseries The Jacksons: An American Dream, solidifying his reputation as one of the ‘90s promising young Black actors.
Though he stepped away from acting in the early 2000s, Myers continued to impact his community. He co-founded The Fellowship Men’s Group, an organization focused on mentorship, leadership, and mental health for men.
Family members revealed that he had faced recurring heart issues in recent years, surviving three heart attacks before his passing.
“He just wanted to live a normal life and help others,” his family said in a statement.
Myers is survived by his four children — Taelyn, Kinsley, Tyler, and Knox — and is remembered as a loving father, mentor, and friend whose early talent left a mark on television history.
