Supreme Court Rejects Call To Overturn Its Landmark Decision That Legalized Same-Sex Marriage Nationwide
The #SupremeCourt has declined a request to revisit its 2015 ruling that legalized same-sex marriage nationwide, rejecting a petition from Kim Davis, the former #Kentucky county clerk who had refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
Davis had asked the court to consider overturning the precedent, arguing that the 2015 decision was “egregiously wrong” and pointing to religious-liberty concerns around requiring her to process same-sex marriage licenses. The decision (made Nov. 10) means that the precedent set by Obergefell v. Hodges remains intact.
