S3xual A$$Case Against Record Exec Kevin Liles Thrown Out By Judge
A federal judge in New York has dismissed the civil s3xual a$$ault lawsuit filed by an anonymous plaintiff against music executive #KevinLiles.
The judge found that the plaintiff, identified only as “Jane Doe,” was barred from pursuing the case because she signed a settlement in 2005 with Universal Music Group (#UMG) that included a release covering “any and all” claims tied to the same alleged conduct. The original complaint centered on incidents alleged to have occurred while Liles was president of #DefJam Records in 2002.
In court documents, the judge underscored that the settlement’s language was “expressly and unambiguously” applicable to Liles, even though he wasn’t named in the original 2005 agreement. The case was dismissed with prejudice, meaning the matter cannot be refiled.
