Comedian Kathy Griffin Says She Accidentally Fell for a 23-Year-Old After Divorce
After a painful divorce, Kathy Griffin says she decided to try her luck on dating apps — and ended up surprised by the outcome. The comedian revealed to The Cut that she went on just three dates before she accidentally fell in love with a 23-year-old.
Opening up about the unexpected connection, Griffin said the younger man stood out because of how he made her feel. “He seemed to see me. I know that sounds really corny. Oh God, it sounds so lame! But I felt really comfortable with him, and I felt very content just hanging out,” she shared.
Reflecting on the experience, Griffin said the relationship reminded her that deep emotional connections can still happen later in life. “It was nice to know that my heart could still feel like that in my 60s,” she explained, adding that it also felt meaningful to meet someone she genuinely enjoyed and respected.
Griffin went on to praise the man’s intellect and versatility, saying, “I thought he was smart. I thought he could roll in different worlds.” She acknowledged the situation may sound familiar or clichéd, adding, “It sounds cliché, and maybe he was an old soul, but I don’t know, we just clicked.”
Addressing the age-gap chatter head-on, Griffin emphasized how rare that kind of chemistry really is. “And that click thing? It doesn’t happen all that much,” she said, suggesting that the connection mattered far more than outside labels or assumptions. how many years is TOO young for you?
