Comedian Loni Love Says Sherri Shepherd Deserved The Same ‘Courtesy’ As Kelly Clarkson To Announce Talk Show’s End
Comedian Loni Love Says Sherri Shepherd Deserved The Same ‘Courtesy’ As Kelly Clarkson To Announce Talk Show’s End
#LoniLove is calling out a double standard in the talk show world.
The comedian, who previously co-hosted the panel-style series The Real, took to X to defend her friend #SherriShepherd following the news of her talk show’s cancellation. On Feb. 2, it was revealed that after four seasons, Sherri’s show would conclude following the 2025–2026 season. At the same time, it was announced that #KellyClarkson’s talk show was also wrapping up. However, unlike Sherri, Kelly was able to announce she was stepping away for the “next chapter” of her life.
Highlighting the disparity in how the two hosts were treated, Loni said, “Sherri should have been given the courtesy of announcing her show’s end instead of an article announcing it. (Just like Kelly got to announce her show’s end.) It’s not like The Real, which was a panel show, but this was a solo-hosted show.” She added, “Or the production company could have at least made a joint announcement as a producer and host. Seeing ‘cancelled’ stamped all over your picture is depressing, especially when the show was having good ratings. Only onward and upward from this.”
Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus, co-presidents of Debmar-Mercury, the syndication company behind Sherri’s show, said, “This decision is driven by the evolving daytime television landscape and does not reflect on the strength of the show, its production—which has found strong creative momentum this season—or the incredibly talented Sherri Shepherd.” They also hinted that Sherri could potentially be picked up by another network or platform.
#TJBCrew, what do you think? Was Sherri Shepherd done wrong?
