‘RHOBH Star Kathy Hilton For Calling Lizzo ‘Precious’ + Says It Was ‘Tinged w/ Racism’
A resurfaced late-night TV moment is drawing renewed attention after Gabourey Sidibe weighed in on a mix-up she says felt unsettling and familiar.
The incident dates back to a 2022 episode of “Watch What Happens Live,” when Kathy Hilton misidentified Lizzo during a guessing game with Andy Cohen. After being corrected, Hilton said, “That’s what I call her. Her nickname’s Precious to me,” prompting laughter in the studio.
Speaking on the One54 Africa podcast, Sidibe addressed assumptions that Hilton confused Lizzo with her.
“That was weird because I’ve been to that lady’s house. I’ve had a meeting with her. And I was like, ‘I know you, Kathy.’ Yeah, I’ve never met Lizzo, but Lizzo and I do different things,” she said.
“I’ve been confused for many black fat, like, like many, many, many women, and it’s always weird and tinged with racism,” Sidibe added.
Later, revisiting her “Precious” audition tape, Sidibe became emotional, saying, “That girl, her life was completely different than it is today… And I am so grateful for her.”
What are your thoughts on Kathy’s comments?
