Former Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor Arrested On His Birthday Amid Scrutiny Over Ties To S3x Predator Jeffrey Epstein
Former British royal Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as #PrinceAndrew, was arrested Thursday by U.K. police on suspicion of misconduct in public office, according to reports.
Thames Valley Police issued a statement saying they detained “a man in his sixties from Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public office” and were conducting searches at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk; under U.K. law, they did not name him.
The former prince’s arrest comes amid increased scrutiny over his ties to late s3x offender #JeffreyEpstein, with questions about whether he improperly shared official information during his time as a trade envoy, allegations he has denied.
Andrew, the younger brother of #KingCharles III, was taken into custody on the morning of his 66th birthday. Earlier this week, U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer told the BBC that “nobody is above the law” in reference to the case, highlighting the principle at the core of the investigation.
