Update: TSA PreCheck Remains Fully Operational – Congressional ‘Courtesy Escorts’ Suspended Amid Staffing Concerns
TSA PreCheck isn’t going anywhere — but some Capitol Hill perks are officially on pause.
The Transportation Security Administration shared the update directly on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, clarifying that TSA PreCheck remains operational with no changes for the traveling public. The agency’s post appeared to address online speculation about potential disruptions to the expedited screening program.
However, in that same statement, TSA confirmed that courtesy escorts — including those provided to Members of Congress — have been suspended. According to the agency, the decision allows officers to remain focused on core security operations.
TSA added that if staffing constraints arise, it will evaluate operations on a case-by-case basis and make adjustments as needed. At this time, though, standard checkpoint procedures — including PreCheck lanes — remain unchanged.
