Don Lemon Sued By Minnesota Churchgoer Who Claims Protest Disrupted Worship & Caused ‘Severe Emotional Distress’
A Minnesota woman is taking legal action against Don Lemon, claiming his involvement in a church protest caused her significant emotional harm.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Ann Doucette says she was attending a worship service at The Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota, on January 18 when she alleges Lemon and others “unlawfully interfered” with her ability to “freely exercise her religion in a private place of worship.”
The protest followed the d*ath of Renee Good and was aimed at confronting Cities Church pastor David Easterwood, who is also identified as a Minneapolis ICE official.
In her lawsuit, Doucette is seeking unspecified damages, alleging she suffered “severe emotional distress, fear, anxiety, and trauma” due to the demonstrators’ actions. She further claims Lemon worked alongside the protest group and that one individual admitted on social media to assisting him with “logistics and local contacts in support of the operation.” The filing also alleges Lemon “appeared to take satisfaction in the disruption” while livestreaming portions of the protest.
Lemon has maintained he was exercising his First Amendment rights as a journalist. He was arrested January 29 and has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
