‘Amazing Race’ Contestants Sue Paramount, CBS & Disney for $8 Million – Claim Show Edited Husband as “Abusive”
Two contestants from The Amazing Race are taking their fight to court.
Jonathan Towns and his wife Ana Towns — who finished third place on Season 37 — have filed an $8 million lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court, accusing several companies tied to the show of defamation.
The complaint names Paramount Global, CBS, ABC Signature, Jerry Bruckheimer Films, and World Race Productions as defendants.
According to the lawsuit, producers allegedly edited footage in a way that portrayed Jonathan as an “abusive and morally depraved spouse.” The filing calls the alleged portrayal “systematic, deliberate, and malicious defamation.”
The couple claims the show ignored footage that would have provided a more accurate depiction of Jonathan and say the portrayal led to online harassment, reputational damage, and emotional distress.
Jonathan was also diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder after filming, which the lawsuit argues helps explain some of the behavior shown on screen. The couple is representing themselves and is seeking damages and a jury trial.
