Lil Nas X Requests Alternative Court Program Allowing Treatment & Monitoring Instead Of Jail Time In Felony Police B*ttery Case
Lil Nas X is pushing for an alternative resolution in his felony police b*ttery case after appearing in a California courtroom this week.
The “Old Town Road” artist, born Montero Lamar Hill, appeared in Van Nuys court on Thursday, March 12, where his attorney Christy O’Connor asked a judge for additional time to file a motion requesting that the case be transferred into an unspecified diversion program, according to reports. The judge scheduled the next hearing for April 6.
Following the court appearance, Lil Nas X briefly addressed reporters and showed appreciation for fans who have continued to support him.
“All I wanted to say is to my fans, I really love and I miss you, and I appreciate your support so much, and I can’t wait to be back hugging you guys,” he said. “You guys, have a good day.”
The Grammy-winning artist was arrested on August 21 after police responded to reports that he was allegedly walking naked along Ventura Boulevard in Los Angeles. A criminal complaint later alleged that he used “force and v*olence [to] inflict and injury” upon three police officers.
Lil Nas X has pleaded not guilty to three counts of b*ttery on a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer.
His attorney previously argued in court, “Assuming the allegations here are true, this is an absolute aberration in this person’s life. Nothing like this has ever happened to him.”
If convicted, prosecutors say the singer could face up to five years in prison.
Do you think Lil Nas X will avoid jail time?
