Ex-NBA Star Glen “Big Baby” Davis Released From Prison Aft* Health Care Fraud Scheme

Former NBA forward Glen “Big Baby” Davis is officially out of prison after serving time tied to a high-profile fraud case involving the league’s health benefits program.

The former Boston Celtics big man — who won an NBA championship alongside Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen — was released after serving part of a 40-month sentence connected to the scheme.

Davis was convicted for his role in a fraud plot involving the NBA Players’ Health and Welfare Benefit Plan, where prosecutors said several former players submitted false medical reimbursement claims.

A federal judge sentenced Davis in May 2024 after a jury found him guilty of multiple charges related to the fraudulent billing scheme.

As part of the sentence, Davis was ordered to pay $80,000 in restitution and complete three years of supervised release once out of custody.

Authorities said the broader case involved more than 20 defendants and millions of dollars in fraudulent claims tied to the NBA’s benefits program. ? @krisdlofton
