Rapper RAKIM Tests Positive for COVID – Postpones NYC City Winery Show
Hip-hop legend Rakim is hitting pause on his NYC plans after testing positive for COVID-19, forcing a last-minute postponement of his City Winery performance.
In a message shared with fans, Rakim revealed he’s been “feeling pretty unwell” while on the road and decided to take a precautionary test on his tour bus — which came back positive. The unexpected diagnosis prompted organizers to pull the plug on the scheduled show just hours before showtime.
The rapper assured fans the cancellation isn’t permanent, noting that the team is already working behind the scenes to lock in new dates. “We need a day or two to coordinate,” he explained, adding that updates will be shared as soon as possible.
For ticket holders, there’s some relief — all previously purchased tickets will be honored for the rescheduled show. And for those who can’t make the new date, refund instructions will be provided.
Despite the setback, Rakim kept it optimistic, telling fans he didn’t see the situation coming but promised, “I’ll be back.”
The sudden postponement comes as touring artists continue navigating health risks on the road — proving even hip-hop icons aren’t immune to last-minute disruptions.
