Dawn Richard is opening up about the struggles she says she faces as an independent R&B artist.

The singer recently shared her frustrations about support for her music career, saying she feels like people don’t show up for her when she releases R&B projects. Dawn, who first rose to fame on MTV’s Making The Band before joining Danity Kane and later Diddy-Dirty Money, has spent years carving out her own lane as a solo artist with an experimental sound blending R&B, electronic, and alternative influences.
