Criticism on the Roast of #KevinHart is still coming in.

SNL vet #MichaelChe recently took to IG to address a stark difference between white and Black comics. Michael, who was initially slated to join the lineup of roasters but couldn’t attend due to a scheduling conflict, appeared to call out the white comics and writers behind some of the night’s more controversial race jokes, writing, “White guys and Black people joke different. Black guy roast like, ‘look at this n*gg* shoes!’ White roasts are like, ‘Slavery, math, slain teens, s3x crimes, slurs, family secrets.’ White guys don’t give a f*ck about they shoes.”

Michael isn’t the only one speaking out. Comedian and TV personality #DesusNice shared similar thoughts in a video post, saying, “You got to wait to the end to see who the writers were and then you go back and watch it, and you’re like, ‘Wow, not a lot of Black writers but a lot of Black jokes.’ Some of those weren’t even jokes; it was just straight-up racist.”

Desus and Michael join a growing list of comedians and celebs calling out jokes aimed at the Black community or Black culture that came from white participants in the roast. One of the most talked-about moments involved conservative comedian #TonyHinchcliffe, who’s been under fire for making light of George Floyd’s murder. As of now, Netflix has yet to respond to the backlash.
