Ex-Warden Argues 20-Year-Old Sean Gathright, Convicted In Rapper Julio Foolio K!lling, Should Get Life Sentence Instead Of De@th Penalty For Prison Labor Value: We Need That Sweat Equity
A moment from the sentencing phase in the #JulioFoolio m*rder trial has gone viral online.
Four men — Rashad Murphy, 32, Davion Murphy, 29, Isaiah Chance, 23, and Sean Gathright, 20 — were convicted on all counts and are now facing the de@th penalty. While arguing why the jury should spare Gathright’s life, giving him life in prison instead, an ex-warden took the stand on behalf of his defense team and said, “He’s someone that’s young, he’s healthy, in reality we need that labor, we need that sweat equity and we will put them out there to work.”
The former warden went on to note that there is an “aging population” in the Florida prison system and that young men like Gathright can “actually do the work.” Julio Foolio was fatally sh*t in what prosecutors described as a gang-motivated attack in June 2024 while celebrating his 26th birthday in Tampa.
