Prayers Up: Music Legend Clive Davis Hospitalized In New York After Upper Respiratory Infection Scare

Clive Davis is reportedly recovering after a health scare landed the legendary music executive in a New York City hospital.

According to TMZ, Davis was admitted Friday evening after suffering from an upper respiratory infection. A spokesperson for the 92-year-old music mogul told the outlet that doctors admitted him “out of an abundance of caution” and that he is expected to be released within the next 24 hours.

Davis is one of the most influential figures in music history, helping shape the careers of icons including Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, and Kelly Clarkson. His impact stretches across generations, with his name attached to some of the biggest voices and moments in modern music.

The hospitalization comes years after Davis dealt with another health issue. In February 2021, he was diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy, a condition that can cause temporary facial weakness or paralysis.

Beyond his work with superstar artists, Davis also played a major role in hip-hop history. He founded Bad Boy Records with Sean “Diddy” Combs, helping launch one of the most important labels in rap and R&B.

Davis was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000 in the non-performers category. The Grammy Museum also named its 200-seat theater after him.
