Trey Songz Dodges Jail After Allegedly Punching A Man Inside A New York Club During A Heated Altercation
Trey Songz walked away from his New York legal battle without jail time after resolving charges tied to an alleged nightclub fight.
The R&B singer received one year of conditional discharge after pleading guilty to second-degree h*rassment, a non-criminal violation. The case stemmed from an altercation at Times Square nightclub DRAMMA, where prosecutors said Songz punched a man.
Authorities charged him with felony criminal mischief following a separate incident at hookah lounge Mira, where more than $1,500 in furniture, hookahs and DJ equipment was damaged. That count was later dropped after attorney Mitchell Schuster argued other people caused the destruction.
Songz initially pleaded guilty in April to h*rassment and misdemeanor attempted a$$ault. However, after completing mental health treatment and following court requirements, he was allowed to withdraw the a$$ault plea.
“We are very pleased with this resolution,” Schuster said. Songz will avoid probation and incarceration as long as he stays out of legal trouble for the next year.
The singer is also suing Kansas City police, claiming officers “physically a$$aulted, wrongfully arrested, handcuffed and detained” him during a 2021 AFC Championship game confrontation. Charges from that incident were later dropped.
