YouTuber Chris Sails Arrested After Allegedly Lying To Police About His Children Falling Into Water

YouTuber Chris Sails was arrested after police say he falsely claimed his children had fallen into a body of water behind his Texas home, prompting authorities to launch a major search-and-rescue operation.

According to TMZ, the Waller County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call on Aug. 16 regarding a suspicious person allegedly running and jumping onto residents’ cars. When an officer arrived, Sails was reportedly sitting in the roadway near a light pole and appeared to be praying before allegedly beginning to roll around in the street.

During questioning, police claim Sails told officers his children had fallen into a body of water behind his home. Authorities reportedly launched an extensive search involving the fire department, rescue boats, specialized sonar equipment and aerial drones. The search was eventually called off after officers learned the children were safe with family members.

Sails was arrested Aug. 17 and charged with the misdemeanor offense of knowingly making a false statement to law enforcement. He was released the following day after posting bond.
