James & Chico DeBarge, Of R&B Group DeBarge, Arrested On Suspicion Of Possession Of A Controlled Substance

#JamesDeBarge, 63, and his brother Jonathan “Chico” DeBarge, 60 — members of the family behind R&B hits like “Rhythm of the Night” and “I Like It” — were arrested in Burbank early Friday (Aug. 29) on suspicion of drug possession. Burbank police pulled them over around 1:30 a.m. after spotting a Chevy Tahoe, driven by James, towing a Nissan SUV occupied by Chico; neither vehicle had license plates, and neither brother was wearing a seatbelt. Officers found narcotics at the scene, leading to both arrests, and both SUVs were towed.

Chico was additionally booked on an outstanding warrant, though details on that warrant weren’t immediately released. Chico has been open in the past about struggles with addiction, including a prison stint on dr*g charges that he addressed on his sixth solo album, “Addiction.”
