Jhené Aiko is shutting down speculation that lyrics from her new music are about her ex Big Sean allegedly cheating during their relationship.

The conversation started after a social media user shared lyrics attributed to a song from Aiko’s new album, Westside Whimsy, claiming the singer was opening up about catching Big Sean cheating. The lyrics referenced being unable to turn a casual relationship into something serious, a promise into a wedding ring, or an unfaithful partner into a husband. Given Aiko and Sean’s history, the post quickly connected the lyrics to their past relationship.

Aiko, however, stepped in to correct the narrative herself. Responding directly to the post from her verified account, the R&B singer simply wrote, “Song is not about him.” While she didn’t reveal who — if anyone specifically — inspired the track, her response makes clear she doesn’t want the lyrics interpreted as a message about Big Sean.

Aiko and Big Sean dated on and off for years and welcomed their son, Noah Hasani, in 2022 before ultimately splitting.
