EXCLUSIVE: Todd Tucker Reveals The Real Cost Of Producing His Movie, Why He Overspent & How He Made His Money Back

Todd Tucker is opening up about the business of independent filmmaking, revealing how much he spent producing his movie The Pass and why he went over budget.

During an exclusive interview with Jasmine Brand, founder of TheJasmineBrand, for her Visionaries Only entrepreneurship series, the filmmaker and former RHOA star admitted, “I spent $400,000. I shouldn’t have spent $400,000, but I did it because Housewives was filming.” He added, “I didn’t want people to talk ish about me, so I had to do all the stuff for TV. I probably could’ve spent half that money.”

Despite overspending, Tucker revealed the film generated approximately $500,000 through streaming. “Peacock gave me $250,000 right off the rip for six months exclusivity and six months non-exclusive. Then I put it on Tubi. Tubi, I’m probably at around another $250,000 right now.” However, he questioned the payouts, recalling, “Yo, 30 million people watched my movie and this is all I’m getting?”

The experience inspired Tucker to take a different approach with Don’t Bring Your Man To Atlanta, turning movie screenings into interactive nightlife experiences featuring DJs, dancers and bottle girls. The strategy helped him recover his investment much faster. “In three weeks, in three showings, I made all the money that I put into the show,” he revealed.
