Singer Muni Long Scores Legal Win As Judge Blocks Ex-Managers From Accessing Her Medical Records Amid $600K Lawsuit Over Alleged Unpaid Commissions

Muni Long has scored a legal victory in her ongoing dispute with former managers Chaka Zulu and Jeff Dixon after a federal judge blocked their attempt to obtain her private medical records.

In an October 8 ruling, U.S. Magistrate Judge Sarah Netburn determined that records from a mental health facility remain protected by medical privilege. The managers sought the documents to support a defamation claim stemming from Long’s accusation that they had her involuntarily admitted to a facility.

The judge said they may question Long, whose legal name is Priscilla Renea Hamilton, about the circumstances surrounding her admission, but cannot demand details of her diagnosis or treatment.

The dispute began when Zulu and Dixon, through Ebony Son Entertainment, sued the Grammy-winning singer in October 2025, alleging she owed more than $600,000 in unpaid management commissions. The pair, longtime associates of Ludacris, also accused her of breaching their agreement.

Long’s representatives subsequently alleged her managers took her phone and attempted to have her committed when she needed treatment for a lupus flare-up. She later countersued, claiming she was held at Cleveland Clinic Indian River Behavioral Health Center in March 2024.

Although Long withdrew that particular allegation from her countersuit, the managers added a defamation claim, denying her public account.

Netburn explained, “But Hamilton never released her records before she withdrew the counterclaim, and therefore her privilege was reinstated.” The decision was strictly about evidence.

The underlying dispute remains unresolved, with both sides continuing to contest allegations involving their former business relationship.

Hopefully all parties can resolve this amicably.
