50 Cent Says He’ll Never Work With ‘Power’ Creator Courtney Kemp Again, Accuses Her Of Downplaying His Contributions — She Responds
50 Cent is opening up about his strained relationship with Power creator Courtney Kemp, revealing that he has no plans to work with her again.
During a new interview with Variety, the rapper and television mogul was asked whether there was anyone in Hollywood he had such a difficult experience working with that he would refuse to collaborate with them again.
His response was immediate: Courtney Kemp.
“I don’t look forward to working with her ever again,” 50 Cent said.
He explained that although he doesn’t believe Kemp is a bad person, he feels their professional relationship deteriorated following the success of Power. According to 50 Cent, Kemp began minimizing his contributions to the hit Starz series, despite his involvement in developing its musical identity, pitching the project and helping establish its audience.
The G-Unit founder claimed he produced eight songs for the show’s original pitch, including its theme song, and suggested his celebrity helped get the series off the ground.
“I think she forgot,” he said when asked whether Kemp had minimized his involvement.
50 Cent also alleged that production costs for the original series climbed to nearly $12 million per episode. He criticized certain spending decisions and claimed his approach to subsequent productions helped reduce expenses.
However, Kemp pushed back in a statement to Variety, disputing his recollection of production budgets and emphasizing that she created the series.
She acknowledged that 50 Cent played an important role in bringing Power to television but maintained that he did not write or create it.

Kemp also questioned why her former collaborator continues discussing her publicly, explaining that she has moved forward professionally and hopes he eventually does the same.
