Jay-Z Lands New Publishing Deal, Numbers In For Oprah’s “Next Chapter” With Beyonce
Congrats to Mr. Carter. Jay-Z and his Roc Nation label have been signed to a worldwide publishing administration deal with Warner/Chappell Music. What exactly does that mean? Under this agreement, the publisher will have the rights to Jay-Z’s music going back to 2008, and all of his future work. Jon Platt, the president of creative at Warner/Chappell Music, has worked with Hov since 1996. Jay had this to say about the deal:
“The real meaning of success is being in the position to work with an individual you consider a friend. Jon Platt is such a person. He’s a man of extraordinary character as well as a remarkably talented executive with an ear for music and an eye for talent. It’s great to watch him grow to be one of the best in the business.”
A separate deal will also put the past and future works of Roc Nation artists, including Rita Ora, on the publisher’s roster.
And, keeping it in the family, the Carters have something else to celebrate. Beyonce’s interview on Oprah’s “Next Chapter” put up amazing numbers. The interview premiered last Saturday night, and brought in 1.3 million viewers. And, in case you missed it, click here to see Bey talk about some of the most private moments in her life.
