‘Scandal’ Gets Renewed For Third Season, TNT’s ‘Southland’ Cancelled
It should come as no surprise–ABC has renewed a third season of the popular show, ‘Scandal‘. Loosely based off of the life of former George Bush administration press aide Judy Smith, the show has some die-hard fans, which ultimately translates to some incredible ratings.
According to TV By the Numbers, the series now averages an especially impassioned eight million viewers a week, making it the No. 1 drama at 10 p.m. on any night, on any network, among the most desired demographic, adults 18 to 49. Not to mention it’s take-over on Twitter, garnering more than 190,000 tweets per episode.
And in less celebratory news, the drama series Southland, has been cancelled by TNT.
In 2009, TNT announced it had purchased the rights to Southland‘s original seven episodes, as well as six completed episodes from its second season. It began airing on TNT 2010 but it’s renewal of the show included a substantial budget cut and corresponding cast reduction. On Friday, TNT announced that Southland had been canceled.
