Aretha Franklin Performs on Jimmy Fallon, Gives The Roots Band the ‘Middle Finger’
Last night, Aretha Franklin swung past The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. She’s promoting her forthcoming album, “Aretha: A Woman Falling Out of Love.” She talked her health, her bucket list (sail the Nile, sing w/ Smokey Robinson and Stevie Wonder), that dreadful hat that she rocked @ inauguration, and acting. She went on to perform, but where in the eff was The Roots band? Love her, but what the hell was that about? In March 2009, they (The Roots) became the new official house band on the show (Late Night w/ Jimmy Fallon). I assume that using the band is optional, but I would have much preferred to hear them and the queen perform TOGETHER, while I was half sleep. But, hell, no one asked me. Anyway, peep the footage of her interview:
