Steel Magnolia’s Remake Planned, With ALL BLACK Cast

I’m not sure how I feel about this, but it’s been reported that the 1989 comedy drama, Steel Magnolias, is all set for a sequel or remake. The original film was based on a 1987 stage play and featured well-known actresses Sally Field, Shirley MacLaine, Dolly Parton and Julia Roberts. According to BET and Deadline, a new version of the film will be remade with an African-American cast. Kenny Leon, who directed the 2008 ABC TV movie A Raisin in the Sun, will also direct the remake. No word on which actresses will be involved with the project. Nonetheless, how do we feel about a re-make with an all black cast? More importantly, which actresses would you like to see in the movie?!!!
