Amber Riley Confirms Whitney Houston Will Be Honored in Upcoming Glee Episode

Glee’s Amber Riley has confirmed that she will be singing a Whitney Houston song in this week’s Valentine’s Day episode of the hit show Glee. Although Riley just met Houston last week (just days before her passing) she and Glee creators feel it’s only natural to pay homage to the music icon with a rendition of ‘I Will Always Love You’. Riley explained,
“(Creator) Ryan Murphy had been trying to push me to sing it for such a long time and it’s such a song that’s close to my heart and it’s very challenging, vocally, and he said he wanted it in this Valentine’s Day episode and I went for it and it’s very befitting that we’re doing it this Tuesday. We were celebrating her in life when we recorded it and now that she’s died, we’re celebrating her passing and her legacy.”
Of the rumors that Houston spiraled out of control in her last days, Riley says,
“She was very, very sweet to me and I can only see her as the beautiful person that I watched on television… and I’m glad that’s the memory that I’m gonna hold for the rest of my life.”
It’s also rumored that there will be a spoken tribute to Whitney Houston during this week’s Glee episode but Riley claims it’s her understanding that he show will go on as planned, without a spoken tribute but with a musical one.
