Jennifer Hudson Says She Would Have Been Killed If Fiance Had Not Called Her

This isn’t the first time that Jennifer Hudson has shared this story, but each time, it amazes me. Compliments of Globe, we hear Hudson recount (during William Balfour’s murder trial) the story of how her fiance, David Otunga, inadvertently saved her life. Had it not been for his phone call and request to see her, Hudson would have been at home with her mother and brother when they were murdered. She explained:
“I was literally picking up my bags to walk out the door to go to my mother’s house and he called me, like, ‘Can you come out here instead of going…?’ And I was like, ‘OK, sure.’
“That one decision, that one thing… I wouldn’t be sitting here… I could have been home with my mom then… I flew out to see him (Otunga) – that’s why I’m still here.”
