Jennifer Hudson Breaks Down On Witness Stand

On Monday, Oscar-winner/singer Jennifer Hudson took the stand to testify at the trial of William Balfour, the man accused of killing her mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew in a jealous rage, four years ago. Associated Press reports that during her brief but emotional testimony, she admitted that her family didn’t want her sister to marry Balfour.

“None of us wanted her to marry him…We did not like how he treated her…”

At one point during her testimony, she began crying when she spoke about seeing her family the Sunday before the killings. After more than 30 minutes on the stand, Hudson took a seat next to her fiance, David Otunga. Day one also included opening statements by the prosecutor (Veryl Gambino) and the defense attorney (Amy Thompson). [Associated Press]
