Despite Petition & Bullying Allegations :: Basketball Wives Picked Up For Another Season. Will You Tune In?

Despite fan complaints, celebrity disgust, and even a petition to get “Basketball Wives” off the air, it has just been announced that the controversial show has been renewed for a fifth season. Viewers have been very vocal about the direction that the show has been going in, and it seems like producers are listening to them. Shaunie O’Neal has recently been apologetic for the actions displayed on the show. On the reunion special, she stated:

“I feel that all these ladies take responsibility for what their actions are…and after seeing ourselves this season, it definitely was a lot more bad than good. I’ve really tried to preach the whole ‘Let’s get some balance,’ and now I think my voice is resonating.”

VH1 also released a statement:

“Our viewers’ opinions always matter a great deal to us at VH1. Lately, there has been a lot of conversation about “Basketball Wives”, a series featuring strong, intelligent women with very passionate viewpoints which can sometimes escalate. We at VH1 agree with and support Shaunie and the show producers’ ‘no excessive physical confrontations’ policy on the series moving forward. We are all committed to balancing the candid, bold excitement that the viewers have come to love in the series with storylines and representations they can be proud of.”

There is no word yet on which characters will stay on the show and what new ones will be added. Do you think that the current ladies on the show can get it together (namely the most feisty, Tami Roman & Evelyn Lozada), or do you think the show needs a whole new cast?

I was turned off to no return. just ratchet. royce is desperate, suzi is a sorry excuse for a person, jenn and her law suits, crazy kenya, and the victim kesha.. i just don’t see the point anymore and don’t get me started on old, greedy, sellout shaunie.

I don’t know, maybe how about we finally get some REAL WIVES on the show. NO real wife would want to represent her husband the way the women represent “that life”. They’re only about their 15 minutes of fame and they’re all at 14m 30s. On to the next ones. But seriously, I think it’s time for the show to go. The negative image they have portrayed of women is damaging. They make the RHOA look normal

I agree, I think people are letting Susie, Evelyn, and especially Shaunie get away with it. They witnessed it all and didn’t even try to intervene. I think Shaunie’s attempts were for the camera. Because if I wanted to stop my friend from going crazy I WOULD have. And wait, Susie (who started the drama by once again running her mouth) had the nerve to tell Kesha that Kesha should apologize. Die, bitch! lol sorry

I WILL NOT WATCH BASKETBALL WIVES IF TAMI REMAINS ON THE SHOW! It is disgraceful to see black women depicted in this manner. No one intervened or attempted defuse the situation, therefore the others are complicit. Tammy is an absolute bully; she bullied Keisha during the bus ride and escalated the tirade during drinks. It made me and everyone I know sick. She cannot blame alcohol or her personal history of rape and abuse. Everyone has encounter adversity of some kind… There comes a time when the abused has to make the decision not inflict their personal horror onto another. Her efforts to seek counseling for her issues does not appear genuine, rather it appears as a ruse to garner sympathy or empathy for herself, while she metes out premeditate emotional, verbal and physical cruelty on Keisha. While she did not hit Keisha during this episode…, taking her (purse) personal property resulting in limiting her access to money, the phone, or her car etc., and going through her phone, arguably constituted a form of physical abuse. Abusers seek control. If Keisha would have accepted Tami’s challenge and retrieved her purse from her lap, Tami would have hit Keisha.
    Her apology appears self-serving…
These women should have embraced Keisha… She was reaching out to them, because as a biracial child she struggled with gaining acceptance from both races. While I/we are cognizant of the fact that this is a television show seeking ratings… Tami’s behavior crossed a fundamental line.
I thought the show was going downhill when Jen when physically attacked… She appropriately filed charges… I had already decided not to watch Evelyn’s new show in protest for her part in setting that incident in motion.
While fun drama is the nature of these types of shows, physical and emotional abuses cross the line.

I will not watch BBW even though I like Royce. Shaunie and Suzie were disgusting. Suzie was a back-stabbing instigator and Shaunie backstabbed, talked and laughed at the bullying with no stepping in to stop it. The dead fish with the 3 retard, Evelyn, Shaunie and Suzie was beyond a high school prank. Evelyn is a Tami in training and a easy -woman. Ocho will not give her his money nor marry here. Why when she gives it up so easily. The first date. She won’t sign a prenup and he will definitely ask for one.

Tami is a bully something we preach to our kids not to do. To keep this show on is sick these women clearly have problems not only Tammy the ones that sat back and allowed this ghetto crap to happen should does that he said she said. I would be done with all.

For the first two seasons I tivoed Basketball Wives but have not watched it this season because of constant fighting. This show reminds of the Jerry Springer show. Initially I really liked Tammy and when she hooked up with Evelyn she became the bully. Evelyn and Tammy are totally disgusting and embarrassing.

In addition, none, not one of them are married to a Baller and yet the name of the show should be Ex-Bitter Basketball Wives.

I also use to respect Shaunie but she is just as messy as Evelyn and Tammy. The only reason I found out about this petition is because of Wendy Williams. I vowed never to watch that show again and have not! I wonder how Shaunie kids feel about this trashy show?

Shaunie, I like, but she should consider getting rid of those hot ghetto messy fake women, and get some real BBW’S

Friends don’t hit friends I think they should take basketball wives off the air for good.

Replace Evelyn & Tammy and the show will be a great success. (ReWrite the season (5) script &. In the 3rd r 4th episode write
a scene that will play them out of the show (unexpected) so the story line of The show will still follow it’s plot.
