[New Music] Jhene Aiko’s Brother Loses Battle To Cancer, Pens ‘For My Brother’
Songstress Jhene Aiko dedicates her new heart-felt song to her brother, Miyagi Hasani Ayo Chilombo, who recently lost his battle to cancer. Jhene shared her fondest memories of her brother on Twitter, writing:
goodnight to my brother , my angel , my friend 7/7/86-7/19/12…. I miss you and I love you …. some called him crazy cuz he laughed at everything …. truth is, he just knew true happiness…maybe you gotta go crazy to get to happy
The mid-tempo song, affectionately titled ‘For My Brother’, was penned before her brother passed. She explained:
I wrote and recorded this myself on my lap top, for my brother…. Miyagi . this song was really just intended for him to hear….. but i thought it would be nice to share ….i was so nervous to play it for him myself, so when i left to San Francisco on Thursday I had my TT play it for him….She said his breath got calm as he listened and i know he heard every word ….later that night he became the angel he was born to be and i am so grateful that he got to hear this before he left on his infinite journey….now i hear him telling ME , what i was singing to him… to not give up . i love you SO much Miyagi!!!! . Everything x2 now. Everything for you now ….

This song was so touching. It told him and the rest of the world how much Love You Have For Your Brother. He reminds me of my cousin who lost his battle with cancer almost 3 years ago now. He laughed and smiled through the pain as well.

I feel so inspired by Jhene’s entire life story because we are all on a journey and everybody’s journey is different, but at the same time we are all connected because we are all in this together. I think the most important things in life are happiness and love, and sharing those two things with others creates peace.
