[Photos] BMI Urban Music Awards Honor Mariah Carey

The BMI Urban Music Awards were held Friday night in Beverly Hills, and although guest of honor and pop icon Mariah Carey was running a little behind, that didn’t stop the show nor did it interfere with the all star tributes from fellow musicians to Mama Mariah. Musicians Fantasia Barrino and Eric Benet serenaded Mariah with their renditions of her songs ‘One Sweet Day’ and ‘Hero’, respectively. In true Fanny fashion, she ended up getting off of the stage to get close to Mariah to close out the song, which ended with an embrace between the two. At the end of the night, Mariah was awarded with the Icon Award for outstanding songwriting which produced 18 number one singles and more than 200 million albums sold. BMI chiefDel Bryant called her “an unparralled musical superstar” and “the greatest singer in history.” Hubby Nick Cannon was of course there to cheer her on in accepting this great honor. Work, Mariah!
Musicians Nas and Ray J also were in attendance for the show. Peep the gallery below for more pics from the night :)
