DC Area DJ School Opens in May
Two well-known local area DJ’s are opening Beat Refinery, a new school for aspiring DJs. The school will be run by Chris Stiles (“DJ Stylus Chris”) who spins at Modern, Current and the 95 Live party at Steve’s Barroom, and Brian Sadiarin (“DJ Geometrix”) who spins at Eyebar and Ibiza.
The school will offer an intro course called “Basic DJ Techniques.” Classes will accommodate 8 to 10 students for 90 minutes apiece, once a week for six weeks. Students can sign up for 18-and-older sessions, 18-and-younger sessions or choose one of the mixed classes. Classes will incorporate both traditional techniques and Serato Scratch Live, a “DJ emulation” software. Costs: $375 for the intro course (private lessons are $76 an hour). Here for full add’l info.
