Recently, Wale caught some heat from the DC LGBT community for pulling out of the DC Gay Pride Festival. Peep DCist’s story below:
Wale had originally been scheduled to headline Black Pride’s main concert event on Sunday, but a week ago, organizers told reporters they had received word from the rapper’s agent that he would not appear. The agent at first said that Wale had a family obligation, then later explained that he didn’t know Black Pride was a gay-related event when he agreed to perform, according to festival spokesperson Earl Fowlkes.
Local LGBT leaders were quick to condemn the move and accuse Wale of homophobia. Responding on Twitter, the rapper claimed he never knew about the show or the cancellation. Then on Tuesday, he followed up to say he would try to be there.
“I’m cancelling what I was supposed to be doin..to go …yeah ILL BE THERE!! I’m not scared nor do I have any hatred for ANYBODY,” read the tweet.
Wale will reportedly appear for free as a guest artist. Rapper R&B singer J. Holiday, who stepped in after Wale backed out, will remain the headliner.
(((Kudos to Wale.)))

Angela Sanclemente, 30, was arrested in a hostel in Buenos Aires’ Palermo neighborhood for drug trafficking charges. Investigators allege that Sanclemente may have been the “queen-pin” of an international operation that uses models as drug mules to move suitcases loaded with cocaine out of the Buenos Aires airport. Reportedly, she’s been disputing these charges via her Facebook page. Peep CNN’s excerpt:
Sanclemente first hit the headlines in 2000 when she was 20. She won Colombia’s prestigious Queen of Coffee beauty pageant. Victory was short-lived. Judges dethroned her after two days when they found she had been married, contrary to competition rules. That marriage — to a Barranquilla, Colombia, businessman — lasted three months in 1998. He paid for her to study journalism at Barranquilla’s university.
A university friend, who did not want to be named for fear of reprisals, said Sanclemente dropped out of college after three semesters and spent tuition fees on silicone breast implants instead. That friend said Sanclemente idolized Colombia’s then-top model Natalia Paris. She dyed her hair blond and imitated Paris’ distinctive accent to appear more like her.
Paris married a drug trafficker turned DEA informant, known as Julio Correa. He was killed in 2001 by his former associates when he returned to Colombia from Miami, Florida. Drug underworld sources said he was cut up in a meat grinder.
Sanclemente left Colombia around 2005 and headed to Mexico, where she continued to pick up modeling assignments and bit-part roles as a TV actress, according to friends.
She has quite an interesting story. Peep the full story via CNN.
