If you’re a fan of Kendrick Lamar, chances are you’ll be smiling from ear-to-ear, once you hear about his latest gesture to fans.

On Monday, the Compton-raised emcee spent the day at New Jersey’s High Tech High School, with students of a teacher’s (named Brian Mooney) poetry club. Reportedly, earlier this year Mr. Mooney wrote a blog post titled “Why I Dropped Everything and Started Teaching Kendrick Lamar’s New Album.” He was teaching Toni Morrison’s, The Bluest Eye, and saw Kendrick’s new album (To Pimp a Butterfly) as a perfect modern-day example of poetry and a continuation of Morrison’s book.

Long story short, his blog post and work with the students went viral. Fast forward to the present day and Kendrick spent the afternoon listening to students recite their poetry and sharing his journey as a student with them.
