Lil Wayne On George Floyd’s Death: We Have To Stop Placing The Blame On The Whole Force Or Everybody With A Badge

Lil Wayne is the latest celebrity to weigh in on the tragic death of George Floyd. As previously reported, George Floyd was arrested on May 25, 2020 by Derek Chauvin, a Minneapolis police officer, who knelt on Floyd’s neck for at least seven minutes. During at least three of those minutes Floyd was handcuffed, lying face down on the road, and pleading for his life. The incident occurred during an arrest of Floyd in Powderhorn, a neighborhood south of downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota, and was recorded on cell phone video by several bystanders.

During a recent conversation, the 37-year-old rapper was asked his thoughts on the incident and he stated:

“I think when we see these situations, I think we also have to understand that we have to get very specific. What I mean by that is we have to stop viewing it with such a broad view meaning we have to stop placing the blame on the whole force and the whole everybody or a certain race or everybody with a badge We have to actually get into who that person is.

He continued:

And if we want to place the blame on anybody, it should be ourselves for not doing more than what we think we’re doing.”

Lil Wayne also pointed out that people don’t take action often times.

“Some people put a tweet out and they think they did something. Some people wear a shirt and they think they did something. What you gonna do after that? Did you actually help the person? Did you actually help the family? Did you actually go out there and do something?”
