Marlon Wayans Defends Jim Carrey
Over the weekend, Jim Carey received flack for sharing some of his opinions via twitter. The tweet that pissed folks off, were his thoughts on Tiger’s alleged infidelity. He tweeted: “Tiger Woods owes nothing 2 anyone but himself.” And added, “I want 2 make it CLEAR that I do not condone infidelity at all, but 2 some degree the responsibility 4 it is shared by both people!”
Anywho, that apparently pissed some folks off. Marlon Wayan’s came to Carrey’s defense, noting that comedians (and I hope he feels ppl), should be able to share their opinions.
He tweeted, “There was a time when we were entitled to have an ipinion especially as a COMEDIAN. @JimCarrey is a brilliant comedian. He aint the prez.” about 4 hours ago via UberTwitter
Let’s not fry @JimCarrey for speaking his mind. U guys want 2 kno what we think. Don’t crucify us 4 havin an opinion or we’ll just STFU :( about 4 hours ago via UberTwitter
I stand on the front lines defending the voice and opinions of not just comedians but all PEOPLE. Comedians are the philosphers of 2day about 2 hours ago via UberTwitter
Would we try to silence socrates? Richard pryor? Lenny bruce? George carlin? Chris rock? Whoopi? 2 hell wit dat I’m gona speak my mind about 2 hours ago via UberTwitter
Now on a branding “handler” tip, I’d ask for Jim Carrey to shut the hell up and keep his thoughts to himself. Last I checked, women go to the box office and take their kids to his movies. Who needs them thinking that he condones Tiger’s cheating? On a personal tip, it may be a stretch for Wayans to refer to comedians as the “philosophers” of today. I mean, really. Let’s not go getting all crazy. I do agree, that we all have a different experience and opinion. We should be entitled to say whatever the heck we want (within reason).
