‘Empire’ Actor Bryshere Gray Accused Of A$$aulting Employee At Virginia Hotel + His Friend Cites Mental Health Struggles
Bryshere Gray, best known as Hakeem Lyon on Fox’s “Empire,” is facing an a$$ault and battery charge in Chesapeake, Virginia. The complaint was filed by a private citizen and not through a police arrest.
Court documents identify the alleged victim as Gray’s associate, Dustin “Chosen” Wilkins. Chosen claims the incident happened Friday afternoon at a Homewood Suites, following an argument over money. “He then charged towards me from around the car…fighting me as I was recording the incident,” Chosen said, describing how Gray allegedly struck him with his shoulder and fists.
In an interview with WAVY, Chosen expressed concern for Gray’s mental health. “He is just someone who is dealing with some very interesting mental health issues,” he said. “Bryshere doesn’t need to be in jail. He needs mental help.”
Gray’s arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday. He previously faced domestic violence charges in Arizona in 2020.
