Jay-Z Sued Over “Big Pimpin” Sample + Roc Nation’s Potential New Signee
For the second time, Jay-Z is being sued over a sample that he used in his 2000 single, ‘Big Pimpin’. Apparently, the sample is from Baligh Hamdy’s composition “Khosara Khosara.” Hamdy’s children, who are suing Jay, have also included EMI, MTV, Paramount Pictures, UMG and Warner Music in the suit. In non-beat samplin’ news, rumor has it that British pop singer, Cheryl Cole may be singing to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label. According to sources, ‘He has been in talks with her UK management to bring her to Roc Nation and Cheryl herself is keen to sign with him as she is a big, big fan of him and Beyonce. She knows that signing to Roc Nation would guarantee her massive success.’
